Oppo Electronics Corporation, commonly referred to as Oppo, is a Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communication company, known for its smartphones. Oppo smartphone models are powered by MediaTek and Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. Alongside, they feature up to 2GB of RAM for the higher priced devices. Internal storage is available in the form of flash storage and is usually capped at 16GB. They also have an additional micro-SD card slot.
For most phones, there front and rear cameras present. And LED flash also accompanies the rear cameras, along with a host of other features such as various modes, autofocus, face detection and more.
When it comes to connectivity on these devices, there is support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB and cellular connectivity for dual SIMs. They have support for 3G/4G for most of the models, along with GPS support. Sensors such as proximity, accelerometer and compass are also present on these devices. One can also find external speakers and a headphone jack as well.
Oppo devices were known to run stock Android versions till 2012. From 2013 onwards, the phones were loaded with Color OS which is based in Android. They are known to feature some useful apps.
The Chinese firm unveiled the prototype, dubbed the Super VOOC Flash Charge, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.
Described as the 'world's fastest charger', the device is an improvement on its VOOC Flash Charge technology and is designed to be used with Oppo 2500mAh battery. Charging using the new system can be done using either Micro USB or USB Type-C
Oppo said its technology is based on proprietary technology, where the battery, hardware, and control software work together to optimize performance.
It uses a low-voltage pulse charging algorithm and a custom 'super' 2,500mAh battery to make sure that such rapid charging is safe for consumers. Oppo said the system will be featured on its upcoming phone, but no other details have yet been revealed.
The company currently has 18 patents pending for the technology.
Beyond China few may have heard of Oppo, but these local handset vendors are rising up the rankings in the world's largest smartphonemarket.
Oppo Has already overtaken Samsung in China, and is working to chase down the big three of Huawei, Xiaomi and Apple in 2016,' said Strategy Analytics analyst Neil Mawston.
